The Capital Press reports that California's agricultural community is divided over Proposition 90. But the opposition spokesman, Don Gordon of the Agricultural Council of California, is reported to believe that "the state's constitution is already more restrictive than other states in the area of eminent domain." This is simply not true. California's constitution is not more restrictive than others when it comes to eminent domain. It allows for the condemnation of property for a very broad array of reasons, including eliminating so-called "blight."
