Climate change and the San Diego Zoo

Recently, I visited the San Diego Zoo.  While passing through the Zoo's polar bear exhibit, I came across the display below:  a not-so-subtle endorsement of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's listing of the polar bear under the Endangered Species Act.

A quick bit of internet research reveals an entire website devoted to preaching the gospel of 350 parts per million of CO2.  The head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has endorsed that goal.  But according to some scientists, we've already passed the tipping point.  Based on the rather happy disposition of the three polar bears I observed at the Zoo, I anticipate that they will do quite well even if their languid San Diego afternoons soon become a touch warmer than usual.
