Fisher oral argument tomorrow

October 09, 2012 | By CHRISTINA MARTIN

Tomorrow, from the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court, PLF’s Joshua Thompson will report on the oral arguments in the historic case Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin.

Fisher is a case about a young woman who was turned away from the University of Texas at Austin based on the color of her skin. It is the biggest civil rights case to come before the Court in a long time.  To learn more about the case, you can read PLF’s short primer. You can also access PLF’s amicus brief, called “most persuasive” of the nearly twenty briefs filed, which argues, “Government racial classifications tear at the very fabric of our society, dehumanize us as individuals, and significantly hamper the very students they are designed to protect.”

You can also catch Josh tomorrow on Armstrong and Getty, where he will discuss the highlights of tomorrow’s proceedings.
