Create a lasting legacy of defending liberty and justice for all.
A planned gift represents your life’s achievements, illustrates your values, and communicates your hope for the future. Becoming a Legacy Partner by including Pacific Legal Foundation in your estate plan is a special way to ensure that our work defending liberty and justice for all will continue far into the future. PLF offers a number of planned giving options and we are happy to work with you or your advisors to help set up a plan that’s right for you.
Bequests – Become a Legacy Partner
We invite you to become a Legacy Partner by including PLF in your will or trust. Bequests may be made as a specific dollar amount or asset; a percentage of your estate; the balance or residue of your estate; or by designating PLF as a beneficiary of a certain asset, such as an Individual Retirement Account (IRA). We can provide you with special language for including a bequest to PLF in your will or trust.
Charitable IRA Rollover
If you are age 70 ½ or older and have an IRA account, you can receive tax benefits by making a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) to a non-profit, up to $100,000 per year. The transfer must be made directly from your IRA custodian to PLF, and the amount transferred counts towards your Required Minimum Distribution.
Gifts that Provide Income
PLF offers a number of gift options for donors seeking a tax-advantaged way to support PLF while also receiving income.
Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) – In exchange for an outright gift, PLF agrees by contract to pay a fixed amount each year to you and/or another beneficiary for life—after which the remaining balance of your annuity becomes available for PLF’s use.
Charitable Remainder Unitrust (CRUT) – You establish a trust from which you and/or other beneficiaries receive variable annual payments for life and/or a term of years. At the end of the term, the remainder of the trust assets go to PLF for the purposes you designate.
