More on Coastal Commissioner Blank's resignation

The Sacramento Bee published my Letter to the Editor—“Steve Blank turns coast into billionaire’s club“—in response to an editorialAs previously reported, Blank, in his farewell speech, urged the Commission to remain “unreasonable” and criticized the Commission’s current leadership for being too solicitous of coastal property owners.  As the letter notes, the path to obtaining Commission approval to build in the Coastal Zone is so expensive and onerous that only the very wealthy can afford it.  It’s too bad the Commission—whose job it is to ensure access to the Coast—can’t see the irony of how its policies preclude people of ordinary means from building on the coast.
