Public hearings on gray wolf delisting this week

September 30, 2013 | By JONATHAN WOOD

This week, Fish and Wildlife Service is holding public hearings on its proposal to delist the gray wolf. The first hearing will be today in D.C. On Wednesday, there will be a hearing in Sacramento. And Albuquerque will play host on Friday.  As readers know, PLF filed a lawsuit in 2011 demanding that the Service perform a statutorily required status review for the wolf. That lawsuit revealed that the Service had been derelict in performing this duty for over 30 years. The resulting status review revealed that the wolf should be delisted.

Americans for Prosperity – California is hosting an event before the Sacramento hearing for supporters of the delisting. The event will include lunch and screening of AFP-CA’s documentary “Wolves in Government Clothing,” followed by a panel discussion on the consequences of misguided wolf policies, and the ESA. I will be speaking on the panel about ESA abuse and its serious consequences. If you’re in the Sacramento area, I encourage you to register and attend!
