RIP John Hospers

I was sorry to learn of the death of John Hospers, who passed away this weekend at the age of 93. He was the author of the first full-length scholarly analysis of libertarianism, a prominent and respected philosopher, who ran for president against Richard Nixon in 1972, and even won an electoral vote. I was honored to meet him at a Liberty magazine editor's conference about five or six years ago, where I spoke on a panel with him, and later talked about his friendship with novelist and philosopher Ayn Rand. Reason has an obituary, and here's an interview with him from 1999.
