School districts try to prevent school choice by not letting low-income parents know their options

In order to prevent low-income parents from using scholarships to send their kids to private schools, two Ohio school districts are refusing to release the names of students who would be eligible for the scholarship.  The school districts recognize that if parents are made aware of their options, then many students will leave the failing schools, and the school districts will receive less state funding.

And as the article linked above makes clear, these school districts are not refusing to release the names of eligible students out of concerns for their privacy.  The school districts provide this information to colleges, businesses and employers, just not to the organization that wants to make parents aware of the choices for their children.
