The cost of California's health care exchange

At a minimum, it’s going to cost around $910 million dollars to establish California’s health care exchange under Obamacare.  At least that’s how much the Golden State has already received in federal grants for that purpose. As Peter Suderman writes at Reason.com, a large portion of money will be used to establish “infrastructure and information technology components” but a great deal is solely going to “marketing and enrollment.”  For example, California plans to launch a $250 million marketing campaign to encourage people to sign up for the exchange.  Too bad the marketing push is unlikely to detail the many problems with state exchanges.
