Voice of the Times on polar bear listing

An editorial in yesterday's Voice of the Times (based in Alaska) discusses the listing of the polar bear under the Endangered Species Act and notes that the

economic effect of such listings potentially is crippling to development not only in Alaska, but in in the rest of the nation.  It could be that virtually any project would have to be examined by government in view of how it may affect 'global warming,' and by extension the bears and walruses, and any other critters the [Center for Biological Diversity] can get listed.

If the idea is to cripple business, the center is on the right track.  Because of its efforts, we unfortunately may be subjected to centralized government whim based on science not universally accepted.
