[Past Event] – Research Report Release: Land Use, Permitting, and the California Coastal Commission

Date: April 17, 2025
Location: Virtual via Zoom
Time: 3:30 p.m. EDT/12:30 p.m. PDT

Since our founding in 1973, Pacific Legal Foundation has filed more than 150 lawsuits against the California Coastal Commission (CCC)—challenging prolific property and civil rights violations levied against residents and small business owners along the coastal zone.

We earned our very first Supreme Court victory against the embattled agency in 1987—representing Marilyn and Patrick Nollan in their efforts to convert their one-story beach bungalow into a modest two-story home—and we have multiple active cases against the agency to this day.

Beyond the courtroom, PLF’s Strategic Research team has also been hard at work—mining the CCC’s own data to pull back the curtains on the notoriously abusive regulatory authority—and the results have been telling.

Join us on April 17 for a virtual overview of our latest report, Appealing to Itself: Land Use, Permitting, and the California Coastal Commission, led by members of PLF’s Strategic Research and Litigation teams—offering firsthand accounts of their experiences battling the agency head-on and why the fight to curb the CCC’s power is so important.

Note: A recording of the discussion will be sent to all registrants after the event, so feel free to register even if you’re unsure whether you’ll be able to attend live.
