Davis Van Inwegen is an attorney in the Property Rights practice at Pacific Legal Foundation. He became interested in constitutional law and property rights in high school when he participated in a constitutional law moot court competition.
A native-born Texan who grew up around the world, he studied political science at Emory University, where he helped build and launch a mental health app for students struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic and worked for former U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler’s 2020 Senate campaign.
After college, Davis attended Wake Forest University School of Law. There, he was president and president emeritus of the Wake Forest Federalist Society, bringing in distinguished speakers to debate pressing constitutional questions. He also served as online editor for the Wake Forest Journal of Law and Policy, where he published an award-winning article on the Fourth Amendment Open Fields Doctrine. After his 1L year, he was a summer law clerk for the Texas Public Policy Foundation, and later a law clerk at PLF after his 2L year. Davis has long been an active proponent of Originalism, the Constitution, and free-market principles.
In his spare time, he enjoys rock climbing, playing chess, reading about American history and the Constitution, and watching his beloved Wake Forest Demon Deacons and Texas Longhorns.
