Eminent Domain Law Signed in Aiken

The Augusta (S.C.) Chronicle has a report on South Carolina's new eminent domain law, which creates a bureaucratic committee to write a report about eminent domain in the state.

A similar law was enacted in Ohio last year. But such "commissions" are largely meaningless, since they don't bind the legislature to do anything once the report is written; in California, the proposal has been broght forth as a way of delaying reform until the backlash dies down.
