Connect the dots, la-la-la-la

This article in The Examiner reminded me of Pee Wee’s “Connect the Dots” jingle from my youth.  The article is a puff piece for the American Education Research Association’s amicus brief in support of racial preferences in Fisher v. University of Texas.  Here’s a snippet:

The Hispanic and African-American minority populations comprise approximately 1/3 (or 33%) of all college-age kids in the United States.  Minorities are earning less than 13% of the science and engineering degrees in the US, according to National Academy of Engineering president, Charles M. Vest.

STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) careers are becoming more important in the technically global job market. The economic future of America is at stake.

Let’s review.  Racial preferences currently dominate college campuses. Minority populations comprise 1/3 of all college aged kids.  Minorities are earning less than 13% of science and engineering degrees.

Connect the dots. La-la-la-la.    Let’s stop hampering minority success by ending divisive racial preferences.  The future of America is at stake.
