[Past Event] – Rise of Reparations

Date: October 11, 2023
Location: Virtual via Zoom
Time: 3:00-4:00 p.m. EDT / 12:00-1:00 p.m. PDT

California state legislators are currently reviewing a report created by California’s Reparations Task Force, which lays out a plan for state-wide reparations for black Americans and implores lawmakers to begin working on bills to move the plan forward.

Discrimination of any kind is wrong. But California’s Reparations Task Force is suggesting that the way to end systemic racism is by injecting more race into the system by favoring one racial group at the expense of others.

If the plan for reparations forges ahead, California will be setting a dangerous precedent for the rest of the country.

The Fourteenth Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause prohibits the government from using a person’s race as a qualifying factor for any public program. Awarding cash payments to people based solely on their race violates this sacred constitutional protection.

Join Pacific Legal Foundation, Defend American Ideals, and Pacific Research Institute on Wednesday, October 11, at 3:00-4:00 p.m. EDT / 12:00-1:00 p.m. PDT for our virtual event: The Rise of Reparations.

Speakers from each organization will discuss the moral, social, and historical aspects of reparations and the consequences of current proposals.
