Bridget Conlan is an attorney in Pacific Legal Foundation’s Property Rights practice.
Prior to attending law school, Bridget owned and operated a commercial shared kitchen for food entrepreneurs in the western suburbs of Chicago and worked as a consultant for a biomedical device company. Both of these experiences highlighted the ability of government regulation to hamstring entrepreneurs, strengthening her belief in limited government and the importance of protecting private property in all forms.
Before joining PLF, Bridget was a staff attorney with the Liberty Justice Center, where she litigated cases to fight government overreach and protect constitutional rights, including First and Fourth Amendment rights. Among her cases was a challenge to unlawful and unconstitutional tariffs, V.O.S. Selections Inc. v. Trump, where she argued that IEEPA does not grant the president unlimited power to impose tariffs and that if it did, it would violate nondelegation principles and the major questions doctrine.
Bridget attended the University of Chicago Law School, where she served as president and founder of the Hayekians, a libertarian student organization honoring F. A. Hayek. While studying at the Law School, Bridget was selected as one of two Lynde and Harry Bradley Student Fellows, a fellowship program established to encourage students to work and study in areas that explore the role of limited government in a legal regime that fosters a dynamic marketplace for economic, intellectual, and cultural activity. During law school, Bridget worked as a summer associate at the Chicago office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and as a legal intern for the Liberty Justice Center.
Bridget also holds a B.A. in economics with a minor in business institutions from Northwestern University, where she graduated magna cum laude. During her free time, she enjoys cooking, listening to audiobooks, and spending time with her Great Danes, Winston and Watson.
Bridget is a member of the bar only in the states of Colorado, Illinois, and Wyoming.
