Mariam Inam is a Media Relations manager at Pacific Legal Foundation. She works to amplify PLF’s work in the media—building relationships with journalists and helping ensure PLF’s voice is heard in the national conversation.
Mariam brings a dynamic blend of strategic communications expertise and policy research experience, with a strong track record in media relations, stakeholder engagement, and thought leadership. Most recently, she served as media relations associate at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, where she significantly elevated the visibility of key policy initiatives through top-tier media placements and creative outreach strategies.
Her prior roles have spanned research, content strategy, and public affairs—ranging from contributing to regulatory analysis at the Competitive Enterprise Institute to supporting production at the BBC. Mariam holds a master’s degree in public policy with a concentration in economic policy from George Mason University, a master’s degree in communication and advocacy from James Madison University, and a B.A. in English and political science. Her global perspective has been shaped by academic and professional experiences in the U.S., Turkey, and the UK.
Mariam is passionate about economic freedom and development—how these forces have lifted millions out of poverty and continue to expand opportunity. She is equally interested in how framing and messaging shape public opinion, and how strategic communication can advance ideas that make a lasting impact.
Outside of work, Mariam is always chasing good stories and new experiences. You’ll often find her with a book in hand, blogging on her Substack, or striking up conversations with new people over a strong cup of coffee. She’s also an avid explorer—whether it’s hiking a new trail, browsing antique shops and thrift stores, or planning her next travel adventure. And of course, she never says no to good food along the way.
