Mia Ring is a graphic designer at Pacific Legal Foundation, where she uses her creative expertise to bring a range of visual concepts to life. Inspired by the minimalist philosophies of Donald Judd and the eclectic aesthetics of Italian postmodernism, Mia’s work is guided by the principle that “what you want to express is a much bigger thing than how you may go at it” (Glaser, Questions to Stella and Judd). This perspective lets her strip designs down to their essence, creating nostalgic and uniquely new pieces.
Early training in oil painting shaped her approach to design, honing her understanding of color theory and composition. Over time, Mia’s focus evolved from traditional mediums to digital design, where she continues to infuse her work with the tactile quality of antique and handcrafted art forms.
Before fully embracing her creative career, Mia gained valuable experience in the legal field. She initially pursued constitutional debate, where she became a national champion, developing the sharp analytical edge she brings to her design work today. Her experience also includes time as a legal assistant, further deepening her understanding of complex ideas and her ability to translate them into impactful visual concepts. This diverse background allows Mia to balance creativity with precision, making her an asset to Pacific Legal Foundation’s mission.
Outside her professional life, she remains deeply engaged with the arts, painting, collecting found objects, and creating miniature sets. A daily hot yoga practitioner, she also enjoys outdoor activities and time with her Chihuahua, Tony, namesake of Tony Soprano.
