Damien Chafin is a Litigation Fellow with the Environment and Natural Resources practice group at Pacific Legal Foundation. Before entering the law, Damien served ten years in the United States Army, rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class. While on active duty, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Liberty University.
After transitioning from military service, Damien attended Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he received the Stanley I. and Hope S. Adelstein Environmental Law Award. As a third-year student in the Charlotte and Milton Kramer Appellate Litigation Clinic, he argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and drafted a petition for a writ of certiorari to the United States Supreme Court. Damien previously served as a summer law clerk at PLF and is glad to return as a fellow, where he looks forward to focusing his practice on federal public lands and natural resources law.
In his free time, Damien enjoys hiking, fishing, spending time with his dog, and reading about current issues in public lands law.
