Stephen Hanleigh

Born in postwar London, Steve Hanleigh is the son of an Austrian Jewish refugee whose family business was seized during the 1938 Anschluss and a French mother who aided Allied airmen during World War II. A graduate of UC Santa Barbara with a degree in economics, Steve began his real estate career in the early 1970s and eventually built a brokerage with 85 agents in the growing San Jose market. His family history and over five-decade career in real estate fostered a deep appreciation for property rights and individual liberty, values that have also driven his longtime support for Pacific Legal Foundation.

Full time property management of personally held properties, and those of select clients since 1973.

Heavy involvement in property rights advocacy at Local (Santa Clara County Association of Realtors), State (California Association of Realtors), and National levels. (National Association of Realtors), including chairmanships of Property Management, Taxation and Legislative committees at the state level, and Taxation at the federal level.

Prior to entry into the real estate industry, Manager of Profit Planning for a division of Ampex Corporation. Totally frustrated by corporate politics over common sense thinking.

Degree in Economics, with minor in Anthropology, UCSB, 1968

Second generation survivor of the Anschluss of 1938…..

Moderate Republican, only because a Libertarian has no voice.
