Todd Petrich joined Pacific Legal Foundation in March 2026 as its controller. In this role, he leads PLF’s day-to-day accounting operations and oversees financial reporting, tax, and compliance matters.
Todd’s commitment to liberty grew out of a deep appreciation for the Founding ideals of the United States. Growing up, Todd took the American Founding for granted—its principles seemed like a given, not something that needed defending. In recent years, as he has seen those principles come under increasing strain, he has immersed himself in the philosophy of the Founding era and the great books of the Western canon to better understand and appreciate the ideas underlying the American Founding. That intellectual journey has led him to PLF, where he supports an organization dedicated to defending the constitutional principles that first inspired his interest in liberty.
Todd began his career in public accounting, where he worked for over a decade in tax, audit, and consulting for a wide range of clients. Before joining PLF, he held controller roles at George Washington’s Mount Vernon and the American Enterprise Institute.
Todd holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Washington, a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Master of Science in Taxation from DePaul University. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of Illinois.
When he’s not keeping the books clean at PLF, Todd is likely reading a dusty book written centuries ago or wandering the grounds of one of Virginia’s historic presidential estates with his fiancée, who patiently indulges his enthusiasm for history.
