PLF submits comments on EPA's Bristol Bay mining assessment

As mentioned in our president’s Friday roundup, PLF recently submitted comments on an EPA draft publication, An Assessment of Potential Mining Impacts on Salmon Ecosystems of Bristol Bay, Alaska.  There have been voluminous public comments on this document, as some believe EPA might be contemplating making the Bristol Bay watershed, an area rich in mineral resources, off-limits for future mining projects.  Our comments emphasize the need for EPA to base any regulatory decisions on actual, specific project proposals, take into account all relevant data, and guard against overreach before making any decision about the future of mining in Bristol Bay.
