David Hoffa

David Hoffa is an attorney in PLF’s Equality & Opportunity practice group, licensed to practice law in the state of Arizona. Before joining PLF, he worked as an intern for the Michigan Judicial Institute and for the State of Michigan’s 55th District Court in 2019, and as a law clerk for the Goldwater Institute in 2021.

A native of Michigan, David graduated in 2018 from the University of Michigan with a bachelor of general studies degree and earned his J.D. in 2021 from Michigan State University College of Law.

David became a libertarian after reading Atlas Shrugged in 2015 and has passionately studied libertarian philosophy and Austrian economics since. After these years of personal development, he was excited to join PLF to put the ideals of liberty into practice for people’s lives.

In 2020, he earned the Douglas E. French first-place prize for the Mündliche Prüfung oral examination during Mises University at the Ludwig von Mises Institute, where he also studied constitutional law under Judge Andrew P. Napolitano. In March of 2021 and 2022, David presented legal scholarship at the Mises Institute’s Austrian Economics Research Conference.

Beyond law and liberty, he is a musician and music enthusiast with tastes ranging from funk to rock, jazz, classical, and polka. He is also a longtime fan of Detroit Tigers baseball and the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien.

David lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with his wife.

David is a member of the bar only in the state of Arizona.
